Verbal Pattern

Verbal Pattern

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog!
How are you?
I hope y'all doing good.
So guys, if in previous post I talked about introduction here I'm going to talk about verbal pattern. It's the second part of CCU.
So, there are two ways in which humans communicate, namely verbal and non-verbal. Here I will only discuss about verbal communication. Verbal means communicating using words, both spoken and written.
Not only in introduction, to communicate verbally of each person is also different from one another according to their culture. As far as I learned in CCU there are two types of speaking, namely bowling and ping-pong.
Bowling is a way of speaking that is used by most countries in Asia. Like a bowling game when the ball is thrown then we have to be quietly waiting for the ball to hit the pin that has been arranged. So, speaking in a bowling style means that when talking everyone must wait for the right moment to their turn to talk. It's done so they're not interrupting the other person, this is also a form of politeness. Speakers with a bowling style tend to be people with high consideration but this makes them often regarded as rigid speakers. Countries that apply bowling style are Indonesia, Korea, Japan, and other countries in Asia.
While ping-pong is a style of speakinh that is commonly applied by Americans. Just as the name suggests, ping-pong is a game where the ball must continue to be thrown by the player so that the game can continue. So speaking in a ping-pong style means that in order to keep the conversation going, the speakers must ask questions and talk to each other. This makes the speakers with the ping-pong style tend to be more active than the speakers with the bowling style, the ping-pong speakers are the speakers with high involvement. Unlike in the bowling style, in ping-pong style high involvement in conversation will be considered as polite but when you are rigid or silent then it'll be considered as rudeness. Countries that adopt this style of speech are Russia, Italy, Spain, Arabic, etc.

I think that's all for today, see you in my upcoming post. Byeeee
