INTRODUCTION
There for, hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii guys😅😅
Welcome to my blog!
How are you? I hope all of you're doing good.
So, this is my first post in this blog about Cross Cultural Understanding.
In this blog I'm going to discuss many things related to CCU. Do you guys know what it is meant by CCU?
CCU is one of many courses that you are going to learn if you are taking an English study program in college.
Basically it talks about differences that exist in all cultures in the world. So, by taking this course you will learn the diversity of cultures in the world. This will really help you in communicating or behaving when you are dealing with people from abroad. I think that's all about CCU. Now back to the topic.
So, in this post I'm going to talk about Introduction. As we know most people make introductions by shaking hands. Incidentally, both from my tribe and country also do the same thing. This makes me assume that indeed shaking hands is the only way that everyone does the introduction. But apparently it's not, not everyone makes an introduction by shaking hands, to make introduction depends on the culture inherent in each individual.
I remember the first time I saw a different way of introduction in a movie on television. Unfortunately I forgot the title of the movie😅
So in the movie they make introduction with a way that is very different from the way people around me in used to do. At first I thought it was only part of the movie script, so that the cast looked interesting. However, after studying CCU, I discovered that it was indeed a way of introduction in a culture in Africa.
And not only Africa, many countries with different cultures have different ways in introduction and I found it really unique. Not only that, it turns out there are also some cultures that apply different ways of introduction depends on their gender and age. For example Korea, in Korea the way they make introduction is by bending. For women, when bowing they have to put their hands in front of their stomach while looking down. In contrast to men, they put their hands beside their bodies.
And the size of their angles when bending is also influenced by their age or position with whom they are acquainted. When the interlocutor is older or more honorable, then they will bend their body about 90 degrees to show their honor. When the interlocutor is younger or less honorable then the angle will also less. And there are many more cultures that have unique introduction.
Learning CCU about introductions will help us to understand many different ways of introduction. It will help us so that we are not surprised and able to anticipate when foreign people make a different way of introduction for us.
Ok, I think that's all for today. See you in my upcoming post guys. Byeeeee
